To meet its ever increasing throughput demands at Takoradi, the final works are being completed for Phase I and II of the Port Expansion Project.
In total, the project comprises of 1.1 km of new breakwater, the deepening of the port to between -14m and -16m, and the construction of 300m in length by 16m deep bulk quay wall. Plus an additional of 770m of quay wall with a water depth of 11 meters is under construction.
From the outset during tender process, QuayQuip was involved with the design of the fender systems for the client. This resulted in the supply a range of quay equipment, consisting out of 40 sets QCN1100 Cone Fender Systems, 19 pieces of 150t T-head bollards and 20 sets of Steel Safety Ladders.
Takoradi Harbor is in the Western region of Ghana. It is located in the industrial district of Sekondi-Takoradi and is the oldest harbor in Ghana. Along with Tema Harbor, they make up Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPHA), and are the only harbors serving the country.
